Chiropractors, like any healthcare provider, are bound to experience some degree of patient attrition over time. Patients drop out for all kinds of reasons – financial constraints, lack of perceived progress, scheduling conflicts – or because they feel better!
You need to have a plan for reactivating lapsed patients, to ensure they receive care to maintain optimal health. The following steps can be used to reach out to your wandering patients:
- Reach out to them personally, through a phone call or email. When you express concern about their well-being and inquire about their reasons for departing, it demonstrates your genuine care for your patients, fostering trust and encouraging them to return.
- Consider offering lapsed patients incentives to return for care. For example, discounted services or waived re-examination fees for those who return encourages patients to prioritize their health by making regular appointments.
- Implement a patient retention program to keep patients engaged in their care plan. Educational resources, wellness workshops, and patient appreciation events can all serve to keep patients informed and involved in their health.
- Last, be sure that you communicate effectively with all your patients about the benefits of continuing their work with you. Explaining the long-term benefits of managing subluxations, highlighting patient success stories, or sharing testimonials from other patients all help to keep patients engaged in their care plan.
